Application for registration in graduate programmes shall be invited by notice in the news papers or electronic media. A person who wishes to become a candidate in a graduate programme shall make an application through the online graduate admissions portal of the FGS-SUSL (www.fgs-susl.edu.lk/admissions/signup) when the said programme is open for enrolment. The application shall be on the prescribed form and provide the information he/she may be required to submit, including his/her qualifications for undertaking the programme of study.
Application received by the FGS-SUSL shall be referred to the Coordinator of the respective programme. The coordinator, having examined the application for the necessary initial qualifications, shall call the qualified candidates for an interview, on the results of which selection may be made. A selection test may be held, if necessary, prior to the interview, if the number of applicants is very much in excess of the number of candidates that can be accommodated in the given intake. The final list of the candidates to be enrolled shall be recommended to the Board of Graduate Studies and the Senate through the respective Board of Study. The intake for any taught programme of study (by coursework or by coursework and research) will be decided by the respective programme.
Under the general admission rules, candidates can submit their application for Research Higher Degrees (Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy) throughout the year, and will be considered for either the February or September intake, provided that the application has reached the FGS at least three months before the closest intake point.
Candidates who have already received approved research grants from any local or foreign grantor to follow a Research Higher Degree can process their application at any time of the year, and will be considered for special admission.
We urge you to process your application through our FGS-SUSL Graduate Admissions Portal. All students will be required to submit: Application Forms, the Application Processing Fee, Official Transcripts, Letters of Recommendation, Study Leave Entitlement Letter, Research Proposal, and a Recent Colour Photograph (and other information as required by the program you are applying for).
